It was recently voted in 2007, leading beach in Central America by The World Travel Awards. It is also the closest beach to San Jose, and the Juan Santa Maria International Airport there. Convenience, and easy access to Jaco explains the huge growth, economic development, sprouting high rises, and property appreciation that is occurring there. Some liken this burgeoning place to an early day South Beach in Miami. Jaco boasts some of the best surfing, and sport fishing in the world, as well as an emerging cosmopolitan atmosphere of unique shopping, galleries, nightlife, fine restaurants, and casinos.
